"Undergraduate scholarship," however, is a natural outgrowth of, and in many cases is simply identical to the work that philosophy majors do in their courses. Our curriculum cultivates the basic skills that philosophers have used to think about the most important philosophical questions for 2600 years. In addition, our courses expose students to the practices, conventions, and standards of contemporary philosophical work. In this sense, all philosophy students are engaged in "undergraduate research."
For students who wish to present and publish their scholarship, venues have existed for many years. Hiram's undergraduates in the past published Semantics: An Undergraduate Journal in Philosophy. There are numerous journals and conferences that specifically call for papers from undergraduates. Here are a few links to Journals and Conferences that publish undergraduate research.
